need to confirm this leak help please

I have a water leak in the area of the timing cover. I think that the gasket is bad. It is at the top back where the cover is. Is this a timing cover gasket gone bad, intake gasket, or head gasket? It is right where the timing cover is near the water pump at the top rear. sorry I have no pics. The car dose not over heat it just losses water.

There is no water passage directly behind the timing cover. That is only cam at the top and oil pan at the bottom. The nearest 2 water ports are where the water pump bolts up to the engine block. Either of those 2 sealing surfaces may need re-doing. Also, the pump itself could be going bad on the inside and leaking out the weep hole (small hole on the underside of the water pump, designed as an alert to a larger problem - bad pump). If it's up against the block though, I would bet pump gaskets.

It could also be a bad water neck gasket and it's leaking down the front of the engine.

You have explained it exactly right. Now what is the name of the gasket that I have to buy to change this thing? The leak is coming exactly from where the pump meets the block right behind the pump where the water ports flow coolant from the block to the water pump. The water pump is good there is no water coming from the weep whole. Will this be the same procedure as taking off the timing cover? If not how do I do this?

I have never messed with a V-6 on a Camaro, so I do not know it's exact procedure.
