i was just wondering how you are suppose to measure your ring gear size, is it just stamped on the metal the size or do you have to measure it with something. The second part of my question is, is that from the group of you that have had a new rear set of gears put in, generally around how much did it cost.

this is the wrong board, but whatever. all you have to do is pull the cover and count the teeth on the ring and pinion and devide them. if your talking about dimentions, just measure across the ring. it could also mbe stamped. if you have he stock rear end it is most likly 7.5 or 7.625. a motive gear set is about 200. i went to a rear end/tranny shop and picked up an aburn posi and 3.42 gears from a 2000 trans am for only 50 bucks. andthey only had about 10000 miles on them. you could go that route too.
