What turns each one on? Seperate switches, ECM, etc? I have a single 19" fan that doesn't fit right and I'm looking to swap to a better system with my new engine. The previous owner installed a Jet Fan switch so I'm asking him what he did, but I'm trying to avoid having manual switches. Thanks guys!

I believe one was ecm or fan switch in the head, the other a/c. If yours had a single fan, the fan switch in the pass cyl head turns it on. Also, switching on the a/c will turn it on. You can wire duals to come on at the same time, or have the second one come on with a manual switch (or your a/c if you wire it correctly).

Thats exactly what I did. Make one turn on with the ignition. And the other wired to a switch. When it is really hot, or u are stuck in trafic. Toss the switch and you are cooled down.

At least I think so. :-P
I don't believe I have the pigtails/connectors still, so either it'll be a trip to the junkyard to finish up taking stuff from the car, or we'll just figure another way......
I'll PM you on NEMS tonight with more info

Well my block doesn't have a switch in it at the moment so I'm going to get a stock one, wire both fans in parallel, then toss a manual fan switch for backup. No AC by the way. Thanks guys!
Also, am I right to assume the dual fans are better than the single? I mean... I hope its an UPGRADE.

Don't get a stock switch, they come on at too high of a temp. How about re-using the jet switch you have? The dual fans should flow more air than the single fan setup.

I talked to the previous owner and he removed it before selling- not big deal though. I'm going to track down a lower temp switch I think. I'm also looking at an aftermarket gauge that turns on the fans at a predetermined temp. I run a 180* thermostat- so what's a good temp for the fans to kick on? Around 190?

I run the 87 buick grand national switch which kicks in around 208 or so. I would think you wouldn't want it much lower than that, or your fans would probably run all the time. Do a search, someone has a post with different switches, the part #'s and what temp they kick in.

I think my temp gauge is on its way out- my car never runs over 170 on the gauge but I have a 180 t-stat. Probably just a bit off, but even on the hottest days standing still the 305 wouldn't overheat even with the single stock fan. I wouldn't want my car running at 200+ * so I'd like the fans to kick on before then.

Don't wish to have switches? Here's what I did:

On the factory dual fan setup, the driver side fan is controlled by the computer. The pass side fan is controlled by the AC refrigerant pressure, and by a temp sensor in the pass side head.
