160 Thermostat/Loud Injectors

Just did a full radiator flush on the '92 Camaro (TBI) I just purchased this last weekend. It had been running too hot for my tastes so I installed a manual fan switch (the fan didn't appear to come on at all), and a 160 degree thermostat. Curious if there are any down sides to running a thermostat that size, or leaving the fan's engaged 90% of the time.

The other question is on the injectors. When I first picked up the car, after driving it hard for a while, I noticed a loud ticking noise. I figured it was coming from the rotating assembly, but its actually coming from within the throttle body (appears to be the injectors). The spray pattern appears to be normal. Is this anything to worry about?

The only "negative" I've noticed with the car is a slight surging... sometimes at idle, but usually at higher RPMs. The car has a 4.10 rearend, so at 60 I'm doing about 2200 RPMs... and it will fluctuate between 2200 and 2400. Is this a vaccuum leak, or could it be a lean surge?

The car was originally an illinois police cruiser... Not entirely sure if its an L05 or an L03... The engine is too tired, honestly, to tell and I haven't checked. Were the intake manifolds on normal '92 TBI cars made of aluminum, or were they cast iron? This intake is aluminum, but doesnt' have any tell tale aftermarket logos on it like an edelbrock performer would.

the intakes were aluminum and injectors are supposed to tick , it is the pintles opening and closing to let the fuel in, but thats about all that i can tell you, hope this helps

Thanks for the reply.

I know the injectors are suppose to tick, but mine appear to tick louder then what I view as normal. I had an '89 RS with the same 305 TBI and whereas they ticked, it was fairly quiet. If the hood was open you could hear them ticking... however on this car, with the hood closed, the ticking is still extremely loud and apparent. I'm just curious if this is a possible sign of upcoming failure or just simply that some injectors make more noise then others.
