Air conditioner won't shut off...

Have a problem here. Whenever I turn on the A/C OR the heater, or vent, or defrost--basically ANYTHING other than off--the A/C is running.

Has ANYONE ever had this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Jethro

A/C Pressure Switch is probably your problem. When you start the car and move the selector switch into its various positions, you will hear a release of pressure a few times, it will cause the A/C to stay on all the time. I tried just disconnecting the fuse in the dash, but if you need heat, which i assume you will, then that just isnt the route. You could replace it, however I know very little about that process.

There are 2 wires coming from this sensor, simply disconnect iit during the cold winter months, and reconnect during summer. That's what I've done and have noticed no problems. I'm no expert in this field, but have done research (Including using the SEARCH FUNCTION) and found this was the best route for myself. However, I'd like to know if any parts of the AC turns on, or draws power from the engine, as fuel is a rare commidity. I hope this helps, and also hope someone will back me up in this.. thanks.

Yeah I had that problem one time. I had the heater on, and the compressor was running. Pretty wierd. But I just switched it off, waited a minute, and then tried again. Must have something to do with dirty contacts on the switches. Try running the bar back and forth a lot. Might clean it off. I"m just making up crap now...
