heater hose question

I did a search but it didnt answer the question I had so here goes..lol

I have an 89 RS with the LO3 and TBI. Looking to switch to either to an edelbrock TBI intake or carb intake+adapter. My question is this. I know one heater hose goes to the WP and the other to the back of the intake. On the fitting at the back of the intake where the heater hose connects, can I bypass this area and attach it to the front part of the intake like the older cars? I am keeping my heater valve but modifying the location some.

Thanks!
Mike

I'd think so, most older Chevys had the return on the front top of the intake so you should have no problem.
