Meziere Elec Water Pump
Hello all,
I did a search and I need to find out who has a Meziere Elec Water pump installed. I have a 89 Firebird, super ram, 383, Griffin 2 Core Radiator and a Stewart Stage 2 Water pump, Stewart 160 stat, flex-a-lie dual fan low profile. I just installed my high performance 383 motor, comp is 9.9:1 and at idle my temp seems to climb some like around 210., however when I start driving, let say about 30 MPH the temp drops back to 160. So I am thinking I am not getting enough water flow at idle to keep this motor cool. My previous motor was a 305 (stock) and the temp was ok. So I am looking for some people with the Meziere Elec fan setup, I have some questions for you.
1. I see that kit WP321-S has an idler pulley, how and where is this pulley installed? (Thunder Raceing Site)
2. with this pulley do you use the stock belt?
3. Does the temp stay down better at idle?
4. How do you adjust the settings on the Elec Water Pump.
I live in San Diego and this motor water temp should never get above 180, but it has now I must find a way to keep it cool.
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated and some pics would be nice too
Thanks
Brad

you are talking about the 55gpm electric pump? If that is the case:
1.)The pulley is installed in the same position as a stock '88-'92 serp belt set-up. When the electric pump is installed, the pulley is in line with the other pulleys in the system.
2.)Unfortuantly, the pulley is much smaller than a standard water pump pulley- you will need to use a shorter belt.
3.)I haven't installed mine yet, but in theory, yes the temps will stay down at idle. This is assuming a couple things however. It sounds like your cooling setup is pretty nice. Make sure your alternator is putting out enough juice @ idle to spin your fan and pump
4.)I don't think the pump is adjustable. I am pretty sure it's meant to run at the set voltage. 55gpm should be plenty espesially for idle and cruising.
Hope this helps

Update,
I finally installed the Meziere water pump, the install went easy for me. I installed the 55 GPM with the idler pully, the only promblem I had was the stock belt was about 1 1/2 inches to big. I use gator back belts and I currently have this gatorback belt installed 4060935, however I am thinking about changing the belt to 4060930. Anyways I really love this pump, its quite. I need to get it dynoed and when the weather gets hotter I will update on my idel temp.
