Car is leaking coolant....argh
Well today's new problem arises, car leaks crapload of coolant a day...oh great!
The entire cooling system was changed in May of 05' much to my dismay I had the receipt of all the work until recently I lost it...I dont know what happened to it or where it went for that matter.
Anyway the job was done at Midas, I know they gave a warranty as for how long I am not sure...should I go back to them and tell them I saw coolant seeping through this hose...
I lost a pissload of coolant today while the car was parked for about 6 hours today, but much to my surprise it still has a good amount in it now...the coolant system was flushed January, it was flushed again in may and the entire cooling system was changed, new hoses, thermostat, radiator, radiator fan everything...The car isnt getting hot either way, it stays in the 180 degree range
Please is this a faulty thermostat or a bad coolant hose, none of this is making any sense whatsoever...
Thanks a bunch

Where specifically is the coolant coming from? Which hose? It may be a bad hose or a loose clamp. It's hard to tell from your description, but it doesn't sound serious.

it
OK I didnt circle it sorry, anyway, see that upper hose connecting from the radiator to the block itself you cant miss it...from where it connecting to the block is where I am losing coolant.

If it is just leaking around the hose and the hose is not damaged, try tightening the clamp (the metal band around the hose)
If it is leaking from around the piece the hose connects to and the block--the roundish thing held on by two bolts--(thermostat housing) it may be loose or need a new gasket.
It sounds like it's leaking around the hose though, I wouldn't think a thermostat housing leak would develop that fast.

so just basically tighten the bolt and see how it goes from there, like I said, everything else is functional its only this...
I hope its not a thermo thing...

I changed my thermostat in august and used forma-gasket junk. I've been told I didn't give it enough curing time, but whatever, a gasket is faster, better, and doesn't blow out when the weather drops. My forma gasket blew out towards the engine, spewing coolant all over the top. A lot of steam and overheating later, I got a new gasket and 195 thermostat from Pep boy for $5 (also had to get coolant). All said and done, gasket is good.
Never hurts to double check the gasket.
