Over heating problems
What happens to your motor when it over heats? Does it screw it up really bad? What should i do if say the temp got up to 260 or alittle higher?

260 degrees isn't in the real danger zone although any weak parts, especially seals and gaskets will more than likely be the first to fail.Remember the factory electric fan switch doesn't close until 225-235 I think.Did you have a problem with your car overheating recently?

yes it did and its becuase my radiator has a hole in it and the water ran out while i was on a trip and it went to 260 and i stopped and filled it but still i dont want it to be destroyed becuase of that i herd its terrible for the motor to run that hot.

yeah, to be honest i've overheated my car once, thats only cuz I was on the way to do the water pump, it overheated a little, but i havent noticed any problems so far.....It's bad, but as long as you don't make a habit of it, you'll be fine.

damagingly hot until you have popped a hose (which leaves a
James Bond style fog behind you) . As it goes over
300° it will be difficult for it to run (sort of a
serendipitous safety feature!) . Now if you continue to run without
water in your block engine damage will occur.</B>
