F!@#$%^ Heater Core!!!

damn thing blew up on me last night, now it's 10 degrees outside and I cant work on the damn car!!! This sucks. I can't even get the hoses off the core to bypass it- the rubber wont stretch because of the cold. Any help on a quick way to swap the core without pulling the dash on an 89 Camaro? From what I can find earlier models are easier than later model 3rd gens.

Wow man i feel your pain. Mine blew in early october...Had a puddle of anti-freeze sitting in my passenger side footwell for a few days. I didn't start driving it again until my dad bypassed it.

Alot of people on this website say its not that bad of a job and it can be done in like 2-4 hours...however my dad (who is a former chevy/pontiac/buick mechanic from the 80's) called a dealer and they wanted over $800 to do...and the chiltons guides say it takes over 8 hours?! I dont know whose right. Doesnt really matter for me though since i dont drive my car in the winter.

Good luck...

Guess what I have to do tonight? I'm just as pissed as you are. It only happens when you have your other cars in garages all torn apart for mods!

Dont have to pull the whole dash apart. Get a 1/4" socket set, extentions, and a u-joint. Theres no reason to remove the entire dash just for one little bolt. Also take out the pass. side seat. Makes it alot easier. Overall, it takes about an hour. Maybe less, or a little more.

Also, dont bother trying to reuse the old hoses, just cut them off and replace with new.
