How is AC High pressure cutout wired -- normally open or closed circuit?

Hi guys, I have 1983 and 1987 AC compressors, which look identical except the 1987 has a round plug on the top rear with 2 pins in it. I believe this is a high pressure cutout. It will be going on a 1983 car that did not have the high pressure cutout. How is this cutout wired, is it like the power steering cutout where it is wired in series with the AC compressor clutch, and it breaks the circuit if high pressure is sensed? Thanks!

As far as I know this is used only with cars that have electric cooling fans, not needed on the 83. Just leave it unhooked and wire the AC clutch like it was on the 83. It does open on high pressure, really high pressure, like 350 psi.
