OK One more Cooling ?

'86 Iroc 305 TPI - Edelbrok Headers, high Flow Cat, Dyno max 2 1/2" cat back system, BBK 58MM Throttle Body, Accel Super Coil, Taylor Spiro pro Wires, 4.10 gears.

All was going well car was given 40 miles of shakedown running, and no problems.

Rechecked TPS setting, and had to readjust.

Car ran for 90 minutes with fans cycling on and off, and coolant temp staying 188-198.

All of a sudden noticed temp gauge pegged and no fans running....
Fan would not engage if A/C was turned on....neither front or rear fan were running.

Shut engine down, let cool.....ran 12v to fans and they both operate.
opened up fan relay, found that even if i manually engage the relay that the fans will not operate.

ANY IDEAS?

Blown fusible link off of pos. battery cable which powers the fans. Single pin weatherpack coming out of the cable if it's like my buddy's 89.

Did I mention the previous owner totally hacked the wiring under the hood?

No fuseible link in any of the fan circuits I can find.

hay man check the ground on the fan relay becuse mine was doing that i ran a new ground and it made them stay on all the time so it was something to do with the ground side of the system like my old teacher use to say if you cant figure it out check the ground side

Unless the previous owner re-wired the entire fan circuit, it will have a fusible link. Should be a small dinky little wire coming off of the pos cable a couple inches from where it bolts to the battery, with a single weatherpack connector.

You got it he half *** replaced a bunch of wires; from just simply twisting some together, to some with cheap splices, to some just taped up.

It has been a mess, and i have indeed checked there are no fusible links on the car at all.

If it's all been rewired, you're going to have to trace the power feed back to the relay to find the problem.
