question about jet fan switch & thermo housing
ok first off my air dam is in place!! and my cooling system is in good shape
the car (305TPI) has a 180 degree thermostat and the temp stays around 180 during the winter (but takes a while sometimes to heat up). during the spring and summer the car gets hot, especially in stop and go traffic. It will get up to 220+ in traffic if the outside temp is above 70 degrees. it never overheats, but it gets awful hot and i dont want to risk overheating it in the future
so basically i want to get the JET 195* on, 185* off fan switch. im wondering if this will be too cool for the car... It already takes a while to enter closed loop with just the 180* thermo stat on cold days. I dont want to be worrying about this next winter. What should i do? since i will be pulling the fan switch and draining all the block coolant im going to have to remove the thermostat housing anyway so should i go with a different temp thermostat?
also i see these aftermarket thermostat housings with o-rings that say you no longer need to use a gasket. Do these o-rings really hold up and not leak? kinda sounds like BS to me, but if they really work i want to get one
thanks guys

You won't overheat. It's fine.
The Jet fan switch is fine. I had to tweak my prom a bit to lower some values for a better threshold.
You can plumb the heater core and heater core bypass valve dump from the radiator back into the water pump, if concerned. Remove the hose from the radiator, plug the radiator outlet and run the hose to the water pump.
You can also run 180 in the summer and stock fan switch and thermo in the winter.

Re: question about jet fan switch & thermo housing
I use the Jet fan switch you are asking about. It works well, keeps the engine cooler than the stock switch and I also have a 180 thermostat. I don`t see any advantage to using a thermostat housing with the o-ring, I have used both and never had any problems with either one.
