A/C-heater box question

I want to take all of the A/c components off and I have a question about the box in the back on the passenger side. I saw a pic on here with that box taken completely off with a peice off aluminum simply covering the hole in the firewall.Does that need to be hooked up and does it affect the car, and Can I do that? I dont care about heat because its a summer car. I really don't want to spend alot of money on this so I don't want to buy a delete box. Thankyou

Randy

You are better off just installing a non ac heater box, if you are that broke I will sell you an s-10 heater box for $50 shipped, needs a minor screw hole mod but pretty much the same ole chit?

Im looking to take out as much weight as possible and spend no money except for the pulley and belt. It is very very hot here in the summer time and there is no need for heat and I prefer to roll the windows down while crusing. I'm just curious to know if I can just take out the whole thing and if it will affect the car. Thanks

Axle/Gears: 10bolt 3.23's I think
Yes you can remove the whole box without any complications.. make sure you plug off the vacuum hose that runs to the controls so you don't end up with a leak that could affect engine performance though. Aluminum is a good choice to cover the hole. Very little weight

Yeah with some modifications, they are basically the same size and shape but if I remeber correctly the fan may be a little too big This guy did it, ask him
