anyone using a vintage A/C setup or a compact setup?

Im looking to put A/C back into my Z but I dont want the old setup due to it being to big and bulky. Has anyone ever put one of those vintage A/C setups they sell for the old cars into a 3 rd gen. They look small enough to hide under the dash and they all run with R134. I will have to buy a new compressor since I am running a March mid mount serpintine setup.

those kits are around 1000... we have one in our chevelle and it was like 1200 with the polished compressor. running the air ducts behind the dash was a pita too.

Dude, I have install a few Vintage Air systems and none have been cheaper than $1200.. And most don't work as good as OEM.. And with all the glass in the rear of are Fbodys a Vintage Air system will not be able to keep your car cool.. And the Weight is no different. If anything, It be more having to add the extra box and ducting..

well, I gotta figure out the best way to put A/C back into my car. I can run the stock setup again but is it worth it to buy all the parts or just get something from a newer car? Does the 4th gen setups fit our cars?

The simplest and easyest would be to put the stock sysyem back in and have it filled with ether R-12 or Freeze 12, Or have it converted to 134a..

I used a March pulley set up on my Monte SS with a Sanden 508 compressor. All I had to do was get some new lines made up to mate the new compressor to the stock GM A/C components.

well it looks like Iwil have to buy all the A/C stuff I need again. I thought I had a few parts lying around but I must have tosed them all. I will mostl liklely have to buy that sanden compressor since I am already a March serp. setup. I am runing an electric water pump and it looks like that will have to go to get an A/C comprerssor to work right with a belt. What did it run you for lines on the monte?
