ac compressor model numbers?
ac compressor model numbers?
Does anyone know the reasoning behind all the different model numbers for the ac compressors (all R4 compressors). Does it have to do with the bracket mounting maybe? The reason being is that I have come across a compressor from a v8 that mounts on the drivers side just like my v6 one but the mode3l number is different. Can I use this with my brackets?
any insight would be greatly appreciated,
thanks.

Re: ac compressor model numbers?
Resurecting this thread from the dead. Since it kind of applies to me as well.
When I performed the serpentine conversion on my 1987 Camaro, I bought a complete used kit from a 1991 Z28 with a 5.0 engine. On the A/C compressor, the high pressure switch was caped off like it never had it installed from factory.
I removed the cap/cover and installed a new switch. It began leaking oil even though a new O ring came with the pressure switch.
I am begining to think that the 743 model that is printed sideways on the compressor, is only for tuned port engines? Any help would be great.
