fans run all the time? is it bad?
ever since i ripped out all of the HVAC system, my fans are running as soon as i turn the ignition.. not when the keys not in, only when the cars on or about to be on
(i didnt clip any wires when pulling off the A/C harnesses, its all still there, jsut hidden behind the dash, under the firewall.) ive researched the temp sensors and green wires that control the fans too)
personally i dont mind one bit, i'd rather they be on, keeping hte engine bay cool. i'm only worried that could this be bad...
my temp gauge in the gauge cluster tells me that the car is only getting up to 140 degrees, and i have a 160 deg thermostat. like i said above, i dont mind the fans running all the time, i'm just wondering if it is bad? too cold? less power made? or if it could cause a short, or jsut make the fan motors burn out faster (no big deal tho)..
anyone have opinions??

bad
it will cause your engine to take alot longer to get to operating temperature and it will burn up the fan motors quickly. I had the same problem turns out my fan switch was cut and grounded to the chassis so when the ignition goes to the on posisition it would always run.

mine run as soon as i turn the ignition, and my engine heats up to normal operating temperature quickly and my fan is still working and this has been a long time now that its been doing this,
though i do only have one fan, and the guy i bought it from said its been the same way for over a year now, so im not too sure if its really good or bad

I have both fans connected and running constantly. They turn on as soon as I flip the ignition.
It takes a few minutes to reach operating temp, but isn't that usually the case with big V8's (especially in colder climates).
The engine temp no longer fluctuates, and I've had it this way for 9 years straight (mind you I put only 4000 miles a year on it). I've never had a problem.

yea, i didnt think it could be "bad" really, because it'll help keep teh engine running cooler. obviously it will take longer to warm up, but im ok witht hat.
i guess that when i removed all teh AC components, one of those wires/harnesses being unconnected triggered the fans to come on all the time, like the A/C being on..
thanks for the info, much appreciated guys
