Quite an A/C investment

Bought my 89 Formula 350 a few months back and have been working on getting the car running right, I think I'm almost there. The A/C never worked in the car and the compressor always had grinding noise coming from the bearing. I knew it was shot and decided to have a mechanic fix it. He checked out the system and told me the condensor was also leaking and needed to be replaced. By the end of the job the I slo had a line that someone had epoxied that had to be replaced along with the compressor, condensor, the freon and labor I spent 701 bucks! The A/c blows cold but I live in South Florida and have T-Tops so its still not super freezing in the car when the sun is blaring...

I hear ya. I'm in WPB and drive alot for work. The heat is brutal. Anytime I can, I park in the shade of a tree or something. My compressor is dying on me I believe. I hear whistling noises when I cut it on or off (or when I come to a stop and my rpms are low). Yes I'm sure it's not a slipping belt. But ya our cars with T-Tops and the big huge glass hatchback allow alot of heat in and I don't believe our A/C systems were designed with the southern summer driver in mind.

I live in alabma so it gets real hot here to, so I made some "Inserts" for my T-tops.. Took some cardboard then cut a template then I got some fabric that matched my headliner as best as I could find then I glued the fabric onto the cardbord now when I put my T- top glass on I just put those on first then put the glass on top. Now it is so much cooler in there.

Good idea, I've been thinking of a way to make some shades myself. Just want it to look good...I like that match the headliner idea.
