Will the A/c compressor clutch get +12V if there is nothing in the system. Will the low pressure switch cause it not to turn on? I am getting ready to add freon. I have swapped in a LT1 and don't know if the A/C is supposed to act this way or if I have a wire/ground disconnected somewhere.

correct, unless the low pressure switch is broken, it won't turn on.

Watch the pressure while you are putting it in... The compressor should kick on for a second when the pressure in the low side reaches about 25psi. If you get it up to about 45 and it still hasnt kicked on, suspect the wiring. Another way to ry the wiring is to jumper the switch connector with a wire.

no it will not hurt the compressure as long as you put the 134a as a vaper on the low side.
