88 IROC heater core R&R--Help....

The heater core in my recently aquired '88 IROC-Z went out; I am in the process or removing the old core and have hit a "snag".

I have read the Tech Article on this Camaro R&R but am stumped at how to access the upper LH heater box screw.

I have removed the dash pad and the lower RH hush panel and can see the 9/16" screw in question but cannot figure out how to get at it???

Any tips or tricks here would be so much appreciated, please...

Just did mine on my 85. After the bottom cover is removed from under the dash, you can reach up and around the right side with a socket with a universal joint on it. Then, get a buddy to reach down from the top of the dash with a hand ratchet and about 8" of extension. Fit the extension into the universal and have your buddy turn the screw out. It is even more fun to put it back in. Good luck.

Well, now I'm a little more encouraged; will give it another try tomorrow morning.

Thanks for quick responses and the link to that other post on this topic; I was unsure just where to post this problem.
