Fan issues, whats right and wrong

to all those electrical guys out there who knows the fans on these cars, i need help. my 92 is has a dual fan setup and i was wondering if its is working alright. i ask this because the first fan, it is always running, from the moment i start the car till i shut it off, is that normal? secondly, when i start my car, the first fan turns on, but if i let is idle and warm up, it will shut off for like 3-5 minutes, and then kick back in. is that normal?

the second fan is still on the sensor, and a switch. did a modification to the tech data article that i find works better...anywho i it works fine

the next problem i am having is the other day i was driving home.. the car had warmed up fully to about 80-90 defrees C...and then when it came to an idle, the first fan started to switch itself off and on, it did this like 5 times in about 2 minutes. at this point i was sitting in my driveway... then it started doing this when i was driving, you can tell because it dimms the headlights and dash lights...i know this is not normal but could this be a bad relay or something? help anyone...!....!
