92 camaro RS

I just got this car and it runs hot.. like around 220. i replace the stat and cap.. but it still run 220.. I put in an 195. I think problem is the fan only comes on when the ac is on..matter of fact i know thats what it is doing.. there is a senor on the radiator but there is no wire hook up to it going to the senor by the thermostat. should one be going there? does it need to be hook up? also is it bad to run it at that temp? it runs great and this is a new toy for me and i want to to run a little cooler. can someone help? tell me how to hook up the senor on the radiator if it needs to be.. Thank you all

check your fan switch on the passenger side of the block under the manifold, i got mine and it did the same thing had to run it with the ac on to keep it cool, went under there and the plug was smashed, so i just bought a hypertech cool fan switch and it never heats up past 170
