Canīt find my sensor

Iīve been searcing everywhere for the sensor to the cooling fan on my 86 Trans Am with the 305Tpi engine. I got info from the Swedish T/A club (since iīm from there) that itīs supposed to be located between the two cylinders furtherst back on the passenger side but i cannot find it. Iīve had it up on a lift 3 times now with a friend who is a pretty good mechanic without any results. We have found every other sensor possible but that one is not there

Re: Canīt find my sensor

I have an 84 Z28 H.O. but it is carbed, not the TPI. The fan sensor is on the passengers side right under the exhaust manifold, between the spark plugs. Just like the coolant sensor for the gauge on the dash is on the drivers side, right under the exhaust manifold, between the spark plugs.

Look around the oil dipstick for the fan sensor. But then again, I do not have the TPI motor.

Re: Canīt find my sensor

you do not have to put it on a lift . it should be on the cylinder head between #6 & #8 plug . should have a single wire going to it . wire may have came off for some reason . [ mine did ] any way thats where it is ,you should be able touch it with your fingers under the manifold .
