the answer might be out there somewhere

But I guess I just didn't find it out there

I was wondering if this same link
https://www.thirdgen.org/manual-control-engine-fans
would work for single fan applications, seeing as to how he says both fans will come on while the switch is on, my only problem is my cooling fan won't come on, but it will come on when I use a jumper wire searching for codes so IDK if the relay is bad or ecm or WTF this is.

ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO...........

I brought the car back from a local body shop to replace both power window motors and it ran fine until I got about 20 miles from the house and then it started running hot, well when I turned down my dirt road the temp pegged at 260 so I popped the hood/run the defrost on hot and whatnot (only a half mile from home) and the temp dropped to like 220 like hella fast and as I pulled it into my driveway it just shut off peacefully and it coasted into it's respective parking spot at a temp of 230-240.

since then I've been able to get it to start twice and hold an idle but thats like out of 20 or so attempts.

no oil in the water or water in the oil, no coolant loss so I;m lost any advice?

I'm about to go outside and try to start it up and let it get around 235-240 before I shut it off unless the fan turns on, I'll post my results in a few hours.

Re: the answer might be out there somewhere

well I'm back with some more weird issues, after letting it sit and idle for about 10 minutes I started getting impatient so I decided to drive it around a little bit, while I was driving the temp never rose above 220 or 230 tops when I pull back into my driveway the temp is steady at 220 and the fans aren't on so I rev the motor for a bit, got the temp to about 235 and them they fan turned on. this seems to be a fairly dangerous temperature for your last resort (the puny single fan) to come into act, is this normal or not.
I'd sort of like a fast response about the temp because I plan to drive it to the dirt track races tonight (seeing as thats my only vehicle right now)

Re: the answer might be out there somewhere

well didn't quite get to the races last night due to legal issues but anyways, the little while I drove the car it's temp stayed on down almost normal.

This morning I've got the car up on the ramps to change the oil and filter and noticed that my airdam is not only bowed back but it's also held on by ONE DAMNED WOOD SCREW, I figure this may be a whole lot of my problem, but the fan still work whenever the heck it wants to and at whatever temperature, it turned on earlier while I was changing the oil and the key was in my pocket, I think its a screwy ECM.

the fan should turn on somewhere around 225*. I would recomend insatlling external temp switch with relay to turn the fans on at temp that you want. I want to do the same thing but i want to figure out why my fans don't get any power even when i replace the relay. Even if i put my own switch it will not work for me because i don't have any power going to the fans in first place.
