how do i keep my stock temp guage???

i have a 91 tbi that i converted to carb. im goin to run a manual fan switch. i still have all stock gauges and want to keep it that way. what kind of sensor do i need to get to hook up to my stock gauge? before the swap i had a hypertech cooling fan switch that was hooked up on the p/s head. the wire color is green with a white stripe. any info is appreciated thanks!

The stock gauge is connected to a solid green wire which connects to a temp sender on the driver's side in the head near the first two spark plugs. It is a completely separate circuit from the fan switch wire which is green and white most applications, usually located on the passenger side on the head above the starter. Charles

Correct the solid green lead from the sending unit in the driver side head is for the temp gauge in the dash. You could still use the fan switch in the passenger side head to control the fan as all it does is ground to complete the circuit for the fan.

The sender/sensor for the gauge/drivers side head is called a tempature sender or sending unit. There are two types of sender's, the gauge type, and the idiot light type. Charles
