A/C Issue.

Hello All,

A lot of the parts of my A/C system need to be replaced. Should i just screw the A/C and take it out all together? If so, how would I go about doing this.

THANKS!!!

-Andrew

well, you could look at it from a cost perspective. compare an a/c delete kit and labor with replacement a/c parts and labor. might also be worth taking it to an a/c shop for their opinion on what's actually wrong with the a/c before yanking it

Leave it in. It's free that way. Can always fix it later if you want.

Personally I wouldn't want to buy an F-body without A/C. If it's broken that's one thing. But having no A/C at all in there, I'd pass.

Re: A/C Issue.

I agree on keeping it. Having a/c on these cars is a big plus anymore. Especially if it works. What exactly needs replacing on the system? Most of the parts aren't that expensive actually. Sometimes it just ends up needing to be recharged because o-rings have dried up and leak or shrader (sp?) valves allow it leak down. Both those cases cost about $10 in parts and maybe an hour of labor to pull vacuum on the system and recharge, though the refrigerant is about $60 a pound/can now, so it runs about $120 for that. But if the system will hold it and not leak back down, it costs less than converting it to 134-a, which is less efficient and doesn't blow as cold.
