broke the radiator fan switch

I have a single fan 1985 trans am 305 TPI.

I installed headers and i broke the radiator fan switch, on an attempt to remove the old one to replace it, i ended up breaking off half the copper outside. So, what do i do now? Is there any way i can remove this from the block?

The most i can do is tilt the engine, i cant remove the engine. Thanks.

Edit: Ill get a pic when i can, its hard to explain. Basically none of my wrenches or sockets would do anything but strip, so i tryed te vice grips. Any help appreciated

Re: broke the radiator fan switch

You could wire-up a switch for manual operation or wire it so it runs when the ign is on untill you can come up with a permanant fix.

Does it screw into the block or the head? If it's in the head, it would be a little easier to get "on the bench", to work on it.

If you can still get a decent grip on it with vise-grips, might try some penetrating oil. Give the threads a good squirt and let it sit overnight.

If the penetrating oil doesn't do the trick, then you're probably looking at breaking the top off, drilling it out and re-tapping the hole.

Is there a similiar unused port on the other head? Might be able to use that and extend the wire to reach it.
