Re: ebay electric fans? (seller: spikedcollardogs)

Hi there, I just bought one that looked exactly like the one in your listing. Same moldings, same mounting ears, same fan and grill shape. Mine was "rated" at 2500 cfm and was all black- not the fancy red grill color for the grill. It is reversible and I mounted it on the front of my rad to cool the 350 tpi and left the high flow v-belt fan on the rear. Mine fan moves a lot of air. I don't know about this listing. My fan cost $24.00 and $24.00 for a brass push-in probe t-stat and relay kit and something like 10 bucks for shipping. Big difference in cost. My fan pulls 13 amps. It is a 16 incher. Hope this helps.

Hello again. I went back to my ebay purchase to check. Mine is a bit different. Is it worth the extra $110... I don't know. Here are the two listings:

and

I chose the probe type because a few of my buds use the adjustable type and hate them. With this one I don't have to mess with it. Wherre I have mine placed it comes on at 193 and off at 185.

Jim

Re: ebay electric fans? (seller: spikedcollardogs)

thanks for the info!

a lot of this electric fan stuff gets me confused...like how the fan controllers work and where to put the sensor and if i should get the push in type sensor or the threaded sensor (where would that go?), if i should get adjustable or not, and if i should keep my belt fan and use the electric as a helper or just go with electric. how would the radiator stay in place w/o the fan shroud?

and where did you place your sensor?. the ad says it should go on @ 180* and off at 170*.

I'ld keep the existing fan if possible. I put the brass probe below the upper inlet about 5 or 6 inches. The existing shroud is important and should stay if possible. The new fan unit comes with little zip type plastic rods that hold the new fan in place. I think the placement of the thermostat is critical- I got lucky. I'm happy with how my setup works. The wiring is easy if you get the relay t-stat probe package. Just be sure to install a plug in the fan's t-stat wiring so that the unit can be removed from the vehicle without cutting wires.
