If you have trouble finding R12, I might have a few cans left in the garage that i can sell.

Re: r-12 question
On my car, the R-12 is 2.25 lbs.
As for the mineral oil. I'm not sure really. I don't think it would have corroded. On the other hand, if it hasn't been circulated in that long, who knows. I guess you could see how loud the compressor is. Maybe add an oz of oil. I'm just guessing.

Re: r-12 question
Just a note. The common impression is that R12 is difficult and/or impossible to find, but I've never experienced that problem either in my former community of 1800 souls or here in Lawrence (going in for a charge on Monday).

Re: r-12 question
I converted mine over to R-134A, I actually had it professionally done and it works really well... I tried the DIY conversion and it was ok, but once I had them drain the system, and recharge it fresh it was great...
R134A is a ton cheeper too...
If you have R-12 then go for it. As for the weight, I am no expert but I usually charged it until the pressures were right on the gages... maybe that was my problem...
