Temp. Gauge
I was driving today and there was alot of traffic so I wasn't moving very fast and some stop and go, and the temp gauge was up at the redline on it, but i didn't hear it boiling. I've read on here that the factory gauges don't work that well, so is it the gauge itself or the seding unit? I want to get some kind of aftermarket gauge so I could tell what temp the car is really at, its kinda scary sitting in traffic and having it say almost 260

Keep in mind with a 50/50 mixture and a 15lb cap, the boiling point will be around 257°. So you may not have boiling coolant even though it's that high.

Re: Temp. Gauge
update: Today when I got home the temp gauge was at 230 so I popped the hood and checked and the fan wasn't running, so somewhere something isn't working and yes the fan works I have seen it running before. Some sensor or maybe just the temp gauge? Any Ideas?

Do you have air conditioning? If you do, turn on the engine and turn on the air conditioning. The fan should come on no matter what temp. If it doesn't you probably have a sending unit or sensor problem.

Re: Temp. Gauge
Yes the car does have ac but The fan doesn't run always when the ac is on and I don't want to run the ac because the oil leaked out, I will just take the belt off soon when I have time. I thought only the dual fan cars had the secondary fan always run when the ac was on? What sensors or sending untis would need to be replaced?

There's a sending unit on the firewall driverside. Do a search and you'll find many pictures of it.
