Normal heat?

I recently replaced my heater core and Rad in my 90 GTA and I noticed tonight that under the dash on the passenger side close to the radio is very hot and no-where else under the dash is even near as hot as that area. I had the window defroster on full blast. It is the area right in-front of the heater core. Also i noticed that even with the blower off and vents closed i can still feel heat coming around my feet from the vents down to the floor. is this normal? Help greatly appreciated

Re: Normal heat?

I've also noticed that the radio pod area gets very hot, but always thought that it was just heat from the radio. I have noticed that it gets hotter at night when the light are on. Never caused a problem so i haven't worried about it.

Re: Normal heat?

mine's always radiating heat out the vents whether it's set to hot or cold, fan on or off. really only bothers me on hot hot summer days.

Re: Normal heat?

Well it is circulating hot coolant through there after all.

I believe that MAX A/C blocks off the heater core. NORM, Bi-level, and VENT don't. Should stay cooler around the radio area that way.
