can i rip out the old a/c box

i have a 87 iroc z that once had a 305 but now has a swapped 350 and i dont know wut to do with all the a/c components cuz their just a waste of space now that the a/c is taken off and usless nore do i even want to try and by a new a/c kind of system. but im wondering wut other people have done about a/c after swapping their motor or just not wanting it anymore. like can i rip out the box (cuz it takes up so much room next to my 350 and it would be nice to be able to work on the one side of the motor). im jw if i could easily get it out and if there would be a hole in the firewall that i could weld sheet metal to if i have to, or would it jsut be easyier to leave it even though it ugly and usless now

Re: can i rip out the old a/c box

You can remove it.It has been covered on here many times.Try using the feature. Some people have fabricated things from metal or made fiberglass heater boxes.I and many othres used a heater box from a non a/c car to retain our heater and defrost. Its a much smaller box and you can get to everything on that side of the engine easily. The fan is smaller on the non a/c box so you`ll have to get a new fanIt`s called a 1LE A/C delete box among other things. You may find one for sell here in the classifieds or on ebay and such.
