THERMOSTAT LOCATION

With a reverse rotation water pump cooling system where the cool water goes to the heads and then the block and hot water out the water pump back to the radiator, wouldn't it be better to have the themostat in the lower radiator hose at the water pump exit? Seems like the motor is always going to be hotter with the cool water from the radiator going to the thermostat.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

one would seem to think that, your water would be its coolest at the stat, instead of its warmest at the stat, so i agree with you i think it would be better at the bottom, but the people i know running a reverse setup are also not running a stat, maybe a water restrictor

i havent seen a stat houseing you could put after the pump, that would let you run this kinda setup

i want to see where this goes, id like to see other thoughts, i been thinking of going reverce flow

Re: THERMOSTAT LOCATION

If you have a 1989 5.0 camaro, you already have a reverse flow system.

Thats not what it does at all, the reverse rotation is only referring to the pump itself, not the way the water flows, its still being sucked from the bottom passenger side of the radiator thru the pump, block, heads, intake, thermostat, then back to the upper driver side radiator, in that order.

Re: THERMOSTAT LOCATION

the pump is reverse cause the serpetine belt spins the pump backwards till flows the same way as a v belt setup
