Re: my 89 rs overheats
I have/had the same problem, i have my cooling fan wired to be on 100% of the time, also make sure the air dam that hangs down (and scrapes on everything pretty much) is installed and not trimmed, i took mine off for a day due to the thing rubbing on everything, well even with the fan on full time it still got hot really quick. that would be the first few things i would check. also when u replaced the coolant did u let the air pockets out, easy way is to simply run the motor with the radiator cap off and keep adding when it sucks it down, it almost always will puke some out so be ready for a small mess. so start with that id say.

Re: my 89 rs overheats
your problem for your temp gauge is most likely the temperature sending unit.. on my 84 Z28 it is located on the driver side of the block between my headers looks like this http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku the connector most likely just fell off like mine..... and as for your overheating problem i would check your air dam make sure its there... check your lower hose make sure it isnt collapsing under pressure... throw in barks radiator unclog whatever its called.... and replace your water pump its cheap anyways..... also if its still over heating i would just take the thermastat out.... and also check your oil and make sure it isnt milky color (blown head Gasket)....also check spark plugs for a tint of green thats what i would do if u want a new radiator super shops have them for 150 for a 3 row all aluminum radiator

He is right, cept the CTS, is on the passenger side block/head. There is a pigtail that connects to this. So odds are when you replace the cooling temp sensor, this pigtail will break, so pick up a new one also. But SD Camaro is right on everything for you to check.

yes u can check it from dipstick or the oil cap this is what the milky looks like http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../watermark.jpg
and the tint green on the spark plugs would be because the head gasket is shot and the coolant is being burnt with the oil...and i would always use royal purple for my oil changes... expensive but promising if u want to go cheaper try mobil 1....also use lucas oil stabilizer its always helpful
