Re: thermostat housing

is it a one wire, almost looks like a smaller knock sensor. if so that would be the fan switch.. good luck

Re: thermostat housing

it has two vacume lines coming off of it. i think that the fan switch is located on the passenger side of the engine below the exhast manifold.

Re: thermostat housing

you have a carb right? it goes to the carb and allows air to pass from the exhaust to help warm up the front part of the carb, just when the temp is under IIRC 80F.

Re: thermostat housing

you might check out the carb stickies and do some searches in there on rebuilding and adjusting. For me one of the great things about this car is that it is forgiving while working on it and picking up skills... just keeps going & going!

Re: thermostat housing

thanks i'll check that out, you know i just kinda stumbled on this car by accident but the more i drive it the more i like it. and i really like this forum, its nice to be able to get good info from people who have some knowledge on the subject. i have alot of freinds who are "shadetree" mechanics but they all seem to say somthing different about this carb. most say its a piece of junk, or i should replace it because its old. however one freind says its one of the best made and try a rebuild, since the latter is the least expensive i think that may be my best course of action. i think he may be correct.
