Heat range (is this normal?)
My '94 v6 has been running particularly hot for about a month now and with warmer weather on the way I want to make sure that its not going to overheat again (it already did that in 40 degree weather
). The temp gauge reads from 160 to 260 degrees and runs fine (the magic 190) on the highway, but when i get off it immediately starts rise at the stoplight on the exit ramp (only stopped for about 1-2 minutes). I have a suspicion something is clogged partially somewhere, it has a fail open thermostat so if it should fail it will run cold if anything. I had the system pressure checked, flushed, and refilled at Hawks third gen about 2 months ago when my timing cover was leaking. the thermostat was replaced later that week by me (thats the last time i do that) because the other one failed. could there be a problem with my temp sending unit? The last time it overheated the heater in the car worked a little too well so it wasn't a failed thermo. but it did spew out of the overflow bottle. the mix is somewhere (this is only a guess mind you) around maybe 30 antifreeze/ 60 water combination, if that could be causing it, it's an easy fix.
This is quite befuddling to me, any input will be appreciated.

did you check the air dam at the bottom of the radiator, I had one that was missing a few screws and that caused all kinds of issues.
