Whats so nice about a 91 radiator?!?!?

Hey guys, i've got a little leak coming from someplace on the drivers side of the radiator, and if i want to replace it i need info FAST. The body shop wants my car pretty soon. I've got a 89 305 5 speed so no trans cooler, and no A/C.

Why is the 91 radiator so nice? It must be a DIRECT fit, i hope to pull the old one out and replace it in less then a day.

Any tips for removing one? It looks really straight foward.

Also a part number would be nice so i can just call them up. Thanks alot!!

it all unbolts, pretty straight forward, i dont know what would be so special about a 91 radiator above the other years.

If time was no issue, i would get an aftermarket all aluminum radiator and forget the stock plastic/copper one.

Well how long does it take to install the summit all aluminum one? Or more importantly does the summit one require the tpi air intake box thing to be modded? Ill do a search

you could invest ina pressure tester and that will help you find your leak.

Check the drain plug....

Last week on my son's little import the drain plug started leaking. More tightening didn't cut it. Went to the dealer and they gave me an O-ring. Slipped it on, reinserted the drain plug, and ta da, no more leak!

Ill have to use a presure tester, i cant find a wet spot anywhere on the rad. It might be comeing from the power steering? I heard power steering fluid is just a watery as water.

And a radiator should have antifreeze in it... especially in Minnesota.

And then I read some more and you said it was antifreeze dripping ... so forget I said that!

i've read so many posts about the 91 radiator and how it flows much better then previous years. I really hope its not the rad... no reason for it to start leaking.

Re: Whats so nice about a 91 radiator?!?!?

Sense of touch too.... P/S fluid in most cases IS transmission fluid, which is very similar to engine oil in its consistency when touching it. SO, P/S fluid will feel like oil, and as stated earlier the coolant will smell sweet, feel close to water.

its okay. a couple months ago i was ready to pull my heater core in my 2001 silverado. which you have to remove the WHOLE dash and damn near everything has to go. then one day on my way to the part store to get said heater core, i dropped something on the floor near the fire wall. i happened to see that a wire had come unplugged. plugged it in and boom i had heat again.
