sensor coming out of the radiator

sensor coming out of the radiator
I have alittle sensor or something coming out of the radiator just below the upper trans cooler line. Nothing is plugged into it and there is no extra connector hanging around there. Can anyone tell me what this is?

I found that exact same sensor and i have been looking all over at every third gen site and also asked a couple mechanic buddies and they dont know why it is there so I have the same question also... Does anyone have any clue?

fluid level sensor. My old radiator has one but my new one doesn't but its not necessary.
