Single Electric Fan Blade Count
On my car, there are 5 blades on the fan. While looking on an AC Delco parts supplier web site, they listed an OEM fan with 6 blades. How many of you have the 5 blade and how many the 6?
Also, I am guessing the 6 blade would be a good upgrade over the 5. I was going to go with the dual fan set up, but since I installed the Hypertech fan switch on at 200 off at 180, with a 180 degree thermostat, i don't see the need for dual fans especially with under 220 HP. What do you think?

If the 5 blade fan has slightly more pitch than the 6 blade fan, they will probably move the same amount of air.
A 6 bladed fan is easier to balance though, and make take slightly less amperage to draw the same cfm as a 5 blade fan

Cool on the balance and the amps. I may just go ahead and buy the 6 blade fan and check out the difference. No harm in having and extra fan on hand.

Re: Single Electric Fan Blade Count
The 6 blade fan is probably for the dual fan setup as
those fans are 6blade. I have noticed two styles of
blades for the single fans:'83-mid'85 has 5 curved,
swept-back blades,late '85-92(and into 4th gen)
has straight, paddle like blades. Both types are often
out of balance and vibrate when running,i have
balanced a few using lead tape or screws on the
outer ring.
