My camaro is overheating
I'm a new member and I have some questions that I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me out on this. First off I have a 357 sbc motor in my car. I have a all aluminum double pass radiator with twin electric fans on it (3000 CFM). I have a fan switch that turns on at 180 and off at 160. So
my problem is I just put my custom procharger kit on and a huge front mount on and now I cant keep the motor cool. I gets up to about 240 so I shut it off till it cools down. I had a 160 thermostat in and I took it out and put a reducer in and that doesnt help either. I have a mech water pump. So the only thing that I can think that could be the problem is that the pulley procharger sent me for the water pump is too big and not turning it fast enough or the intercooler is blocking too much air.
I already called procharger and they said that is the only pulley they have. And yes the air dam is on the car.
Does any one else have a front mount on there car and have this problem?

Re: My camaro is overheating
sounds like the intercooler is blocking all of your airflow. is this a racecar or a street beast?

there is a little paperclip on the toolbar when creting a post, click that and a popup will come up, it has to be a GIF or a JPG click browse, find the picture, click upload, than you're done.

I would try to Fab up some kind of ducting to bring fresh air to your radiator, it looks to me like the fron mount is blocking all of the airflow.

Make sure your lower rad hose has a spring in it to prevent collapsing. This will cause it to idle OK but heat up on the road.

Re: My camaro is overheating
I ordered a stage 2 stewart pump and a 180 thermostat, I also fab up a stainless air dam so I will put it all on this week and hopefully that will fix the problem.
Thanks for all the help so far..

What's the current status?
Is that a larger aftermarket radiator?

Re: My camaro is overheating
Well I put the water pump and thermostat in on monday night and last night I put on my new air dam that I made so im hoping to take it for a drive tonight or tommorrow and see if that fixed the problem, I hope so. I would of been fixed last week but I broke my foot so that puts a damper on getting stuff fixed.

Re: My camaro is overheating
Can you post a pic (or possibly provide a part #) for what you used for rad hoses? I have a double pass radiator too, and I cut a rad. hose to fit I found on the shelf at Napa for my upper hose, but I am stuck using the stock lower hose for now, which doesn't fit very well, but I haven't found any other hoses that clear the idler arm.

Re: My camaro is overheating
dumb ? but like it was said above, are your fans pulling or pushing? have you put a pressure tester on your rad to test the pressure of your cooling system?

Re: My camaro is overheating
Sorry its been so long since I have wrote on my post but Ive been busy with my new house and getting married and everything. So everything is fine now, on a 90 degree day it gets up to like 190. I added a stewart stage 2 water pump and put water wetter in the radiator. About the radiator hoses I bought a stainless kit for the upper and lower so I cut the hoses to fit. Ill get some pics this weekend when I bring the car to my new house.

Re: My camaro is overheating
Glad you got it fixed. Updates for pics? I'm also in need of a radiator hose to fit the new bigger radiator and clear the idler arm.
