86 cooling question

Transmission: 700R4

86 cooling question

Purchased 86 camaro 350-300 hp, headers, cat-back exhaust, elderbrock intake,summitt 600 cfm carb., 700R4 trans, not sure of gear. I am quite sure it has the orgin. electric cooling fan on it. Undernormal driving temp runs 180 to 190, I have a manual switch for the fan. Ran the car 3 or 4 times hard thru 1st and 2nd gear last nite up to about 65-70 mph. Temp went up to 220 and when I shut it down up to 245. I want to replace the fan with one that has a internal switch to activate the fan. What CFM should I use and is there anything I can do to get more air thru the front clip. Thanks

these cars breath and cool from the underside. THere is, or should be, an air damn mounted to the bottom of the radiator support, sticking down a few inches. It has to be there.

As for fans, the more cfm's the better. 3000 should be more than enough. I use 2 3000 cfm fans, one on a manula switch, the other on the factory fan switch.
