AC Delete Wiring Help

I converted my car over to an a/c delete set up a while ago. I do have some problems with the heater and I believe it is from the wiring. I cut the wires (still have wires that were removed) that went to my ac box set-up, and spliced three of them into my ac delete box wiring. I guess that the box that I picked up is an older style wiring set-up (from an 82 camaro). So what I did was splice the orange to the orange, yellow to yellow, and the blue to the blue, and left the green and brown wires from the a/c harness cut. My problem is that only the low speed and high speed work on the blower motor. The middle two settings dont work. So is having the green and brown wires not hooked up causing this problem? Also, I see some other boxes from newer cars have the newer style resistor (I believe its called) on them. Could I just take my resistor from my ac box and install it on the delete box? Also if I did that, how would I modify the wiring to make it work? Any suggestions or pictures on how you guys have done this in your swap would be very helpful.
