Spal dual 11" vs dual 12"

I see there is a lot of people running the Spal dual 11" fans with shroud. Looking at the dimensions it seems that the Spal dual 12" would also fit on a stock radiator. Has anyone tried?

Dual 11" - 16.26" x 23.46" x 4.25"
Dual 12" - 17.32" x 25.83" x 4.02"

Re: Spal dual 11" vs dual 12"

hi i am running dual fans and this may be a dumb questiong or a lil off topic but i figured i would ask... do you know where the wires from the dual fans go? mine are un plugged but are still plugged into the fan motors if that makes since... radiator and fans look brand new. any advice or input would be great. thak you.

Dual 12s will fit but not side by side like that, they need to be staggered

Thats funny twin_turbo. It sure looks like they'd fit if you consider spal's advertised dimensions. I'll give them a call.

Re: Spal dual 11" vs dual 12"

On the spal site you can download a PDF with all the dimensions in it. Did you take into account that the housing is larger than 12"? It has a mounting diameter of 337mm about 13.25". I designed my bracket in Solidworks w/ all the fan dimensions in it (have a model of the rad, the fan,. the shroud and my rad mount) If it would have fit side by side I should have been able to figure that out no?

(this design was tweaked a little, final one is a little different)

Really it's ignorant stuff like this that gets my blood boiling. I say it won't fit unless staggered I show a pic..I have done it and then you come in and say "humm, I think it will fit based upon the dims from the spal site" WTF now, if you know the answer you think is correct...why ask at all?

Re: Spal dual 11" vs dual 12"

Well thanks for calling me ignorant.

But in the spirit of the forums I'll ignore that comment. I think you can tell I wasn't trying to insult you, i was actually trying to insult Spal for publishing wrong dimensions. Sometimes you can never tell attitude over the net.

Now you will see in my first post that I gave the dimensions for the Spal dual 11" fans with spal shroud. I also gave dimensions of the spal dual 12" fans with the spal shroud. Maybe you didn't understand that I'm talking about the spal dual 12" with shroud. I didn't just assume two 12" fans next to each other = 24" That would be ignorant.

So the spal dual 12" with shroud is 17.32" x 25.83" x 4.02". If you look at my pic of the spal dual 11" with shroud and consider that the dual 12" is only 2.5" wider and 1" inch taller, don't you think it would just fit?

Do you happen to have the dimensions of the stock radiator from you solid works model? If you do, I'll whip something up in Catia and find out if it works.

Here is the link to the spal dual 12" with shroud

Re: Spal dual 11" vs dual 12"

This is a random image I found while searching this site for radiator dimensions. I am not sure if it is accurate. If true, it sounds like the Spal 30102130 would be a touch to tall. I'll have to measure my radiator when I get some today.

Re: Spal dual 11" vs dual 12"

I measured my radiator at 17" by 26".

So it looks like I could probably make it work. I just need to decide if its worth the major premium over the dual 11"
