Dual fan Question
I have looked extensively on here and cannot find what the amp draw for the dual fans are. I recently fried my fusible link wire to the fans and have replaced with an weatherproof inline fuse, but need to know what size fuse is acceptable. 25A works for a while, but then blows. Is anyone using a 30A fuse? Safe?
Thanks

Re: Dual fan Question
i tested a set of stock dual fans and found each fan
pulls 7.5 amps ,so 15 A total once up to speed.
startup current is likely over 25A for a second or 2 if
setup is rigged to start both fans at once.
Could have a bad fan motor pulling too much current
if there is no other cause of the fuselink melting.

Re: Dual fan Question
im running dual fans wired together,i have a 30 amp breaker that plugs in the fuse holder. (not the factory wiring or fuse block)
i had a 30amp fuse in for 2 years and it eventually blew it.
my motors are new.so i replaced it with a breaker and its been 2 years now and NO PROBLEMS.
they draw right around 30 on startup and then about half that to run.the breaker allows a slight over 30 amp draw without tripping.

Re: Dual fan Question
Thanks guys. The PO at some point fried a portion of the fusible link wire and tried to crimp back together using the wrong size butt connector. The splice eventually melted. Thats when I installed the inline fuse. Believe I'm gonna go back to fusible link...

Re: Dual fan Question
What fuse is for the radiator fans? I don't know if mine are working because today in traffic my car went above 220 until I got to driving again. Usually the highest it goes is 220 and I'm real weird about that so I'd like to at least check.

Re: Dual fan Question
I believe that factory fan ON temp is 234...so 220 still wouldn't engage the fans.
Also, are you guys running the fans directly wired to a switch with a fuse. You should be running it through a relay system. If so, nevermind

Re: Dual fan Question
There is a fusible link wire right near the battery that feed the fans relays.
91interceptorZ---mine is still factory assembled with new relay put in last year...I am an electrical eng, so I am comfortable with the factory wiring...

Re: Dual fan Question
i have the ecm controling both fans as primary on a relay, and a second relay that also turns them both on for the a/c.
(the ecm turns them on at 185)
(my car was a maf tpi,the harness was shot so i installed a aftermarket map tpi harness with no a/c provisions so i had to wire the fans myself to turn on with the compressor.)
i have both fans on a single 30a breaker.
