factory engine oil cooler question
hey guys, did a search, couldn't find the answer. Simple question and I can't remember how it works.
The engine oil cooler, does it run engine oil to the radiator and back (like the trans cooler)
or
does it run coolant throught those lines up to the oil filter adapter housing??
I would suspect it works the same as the tranny side but wasn't sure.
Thanks guys in advance.

Re: factory engine oil cooler question
It runs coolant through a heat exchanger in the KC4 unit. There's coolant running through the lines to the heat exchanger (oil filter adapter)

Re: factory engine oil cooler question
thank you for info. one more quick question. does the radiator have two more fittings or does the lines that run the the kc4 unit T into two other lines. reason I'm asking is I'm about to purchase a 2 row aluminum radiator and they claim direct fit , just wanna make sure everything will bolt up correctly. thanks.

Re: factory engine oil cooler question
One side of the KC4 cooler is hooked up to the radiator directly (pass side of radiator end tank 3" from the top), the other goes to the coolant pipe on the pass side frame rail. If you don't have AC it runs straight to the bottom pipe of the heater matrix, if you have AC the pipe is T shaped with on the Teed off section the bypass with the heater valve, allowing blocking circulation through the heater matrix to increase AC performance.
Here's a couple of pics to help make it more clear:

See the open end on the front of that black pipe on the frame? That's where one side of the cooler hooks up.

Those rads all have the hookup for the other side, it's the small pipe on the pass side near the top.
