To Dam Or Not To Dam
That is the question!!
After reading about overheating without an air dam, I called some yards, & I scored 1 today!!
I get home, clean it up, and hang it with the corner bolts, so it's only "on", but not fully secure. I stopped because--
(1) There is a large scoop running behind the grill. About a 1/4 circle shape.
(2) The air dam doesn't hang below the scoop, pretty much flush with the bottom of it.
So my Qs--
( a ) Do I keep the air dam, or is the scoop sufficient?
( b ) Does the scoop get attached with the edge on top of the chin spoiler, or should it attach to the bottom of the chin?
It's been over 2 yrs since I took it off for paint, & now I'm wondering if it's on correctly? For now, the scoop is bolted to the top of the chin.
Thanks for any help!!

The air dams mount under the radiator wall. Not sure was "scoop" your referring to. But yes......Put the air dam on.

If you really dont want to yuo can always get a fog light grille and leave off the fogs. I did that... but I still have my air dam too.
But my car does run at like 160 on hot summer days with a 195 deg t-stat. But I have a 3-core AL radiator too... I dunno. I dont like the idea of experimenting with less cooling though.

Re: To Dam Or Not To Dam
i think the "scoop" he is referring to the plastic piece that clips onto the underside of the front bumper cover , maybe he's missing the little push in plugg like things .

Re: To Dam Or Not To Dam
Yea, the scoop thing under the bumper cover that bolts to the chin.
I have both grills to choose from, so I'm good there.
Dam will stay on. Good point on not taking chances. This Camaro didn't have the dam, & I never would've known it should if I didn't find TGO!!
Score another win for TGO!!!
Thanks everyone!! Greatly appreciated!!!
