Upper Hose Stiff

92 rs with 77 350 w/carb. upper radiator hose is getting hard at times. not like when you push on it you feel the surge but totally hard. radiator was replaced in december. po had fan wired from temp sensor across headers. first nite taking car out radiator burst. found wire had burnt through shutting off fan. so put new radiator in and re-wired fan. put new water pump. new radiator cap. flushed system. now the hose problem. any ideas????? thanks

Even tho the cap is new it might be defective.

Pressure test it.

Re: Upper Hose Stiff

I have no idea if this would make the hose stiff, but ...

When you swapped to carb, did you retain the serp belt system?

I ask because my thought was maybe you have the wrong water pump. If you kept the serp belt system, you need a reverse rotation water pump, if you went with any other belt system, you need a standard rotation pump.
