Re: NEED IMEDIATE HELP!! THERMOSTAT HOUSING??

more likely u crossthread it hhmm...if u did ull need a tap and die set to clean the threads so if the housing is in it cut the head so u can take the housing off and use vise gips to take the bolt off if u already tried with the socket, that way ull know if it has been crossed threaded

Re: NEED IMEDIATE HELP!! THERMOSTAT HOUSING??

ooooooooooooooooohhhh ok that changes everything, get urself some wd40 and spray it on the bolt to help lubricate it, also a 3/8 impact will help a lot if u have one available

but it'll just turn both...
when i put a wrench on the nut and move it, the bolt its on, turns with it

Re: NEED IMEDIATE HELP!! THERMOSTAT HOUSING??

huumm i see u have a stud bolt instead of a regular bolt. if its spinning then just keep do in it u'll end up taking the whole screw off of it, that way u can put a hex head in it

Re: NEED IMEDIATE HELP!! THERMOSTAT HOUSING??

yup they're commonly used on pulley brackets... if it dsnt work, try the wd40 use a ratchet wrench to turn the nut and hold the stud with visegrips but let the wd40 work its magic, but im sure it'll work i've done it dozen times

Re: NEED IMEDIATE HELP!! THERMOSTAT HOUSING??

Just keep unscrewing until they both come out and replace with a new bolt and stud that are available at any parts store. Take the old one with you for reference and now the new one is free of rust

Re: NEED IMEDIATE HELP!! THERMOSTAT HOUSING??

Pb blaster is some good stuff for getting those tough rusty bolts out too, I prefer it over wd-40 especially for drivetrain/underbody bolts. Just a thought...im sure the wd-40 will work like a champ here though

Hello itsMikey!!

That "stuck nut" on the stud is the OEM piece, it's designed that way!!

It's designed that way, so that you can attach another bracket to that stud with a nut, and then remove the nut later, without removing the complete stud, and destroying your thermostat housing gasket causing a persistant leak!!

You really don't need it (any correct thread pitch bolt will work), as you don't have anything to mount there, however, if your looking for the stock look, you'll need it!!!
