Can you reclock a compressor?

Can you reclock a compressor?
Car: 1987 IROC 5.0L TPI
I got a really good deal on a reman A/C compressor on Ebay and bought one for my dad as well. He has an 86 and it went on fine with no trouble.
The brackets on my A/C compressor hit the connector for the compressor clutch and there is not enough room to feed the bolt through. Can the clutch coil be clocked in another fashion to allow clearance for the brackets?
