Radiator cap Dry Rot?

I replaced my radiator cap. The one before the rubber on the other one i had was dry rotted and spring didn't flex the best?

I bought a new one and put it on so i have no way of testing and also the temp would get up to 240 degrees.

But i have no way of testing and my air duct part of the paneling was hanging so getting a bigger washer or going to the junkyard and picking up a new one mine i kinda torn.

Do you think this will make it run alot cooler now.

cooling system when it pressurizes it is going to find the next next weak spot- if there is anymore. you replaced to cap- old was dry rotted. if everthing else will hold up then you need to make sure to get the best air flow across the radiator.
